Getting access to a kiln would definitely make this a much more feasible task, but is the one your looking at able to get to temp to melt stainless?
not quite (2400F), but close. Do you need to melt it or just heat treat it? I can't get a quick answer on the temperature for passivating
If we're doing lost PLA casting it'd need to be melted. Passivating needs a coating to be applied to mild steel to prevent corrosion. Basically, the choice is cheaper mild steel with occasional maintenance, or more expensive stainless, but easier to work with
