Print recycling - Ayydan - 06-15-2023 For those interested in the recycling stuff I want to do, I wanted to share the hardware I'm looking at to handle the shredding and extrusion Shredder Extruder RE: Print recycling - packocrayons - 06-15-2023 That compression screw on the extruder is something else. Have you considered sintered/lostPLA casting the teeth for the grinder? I feel like that's the biggest limiting factor in making your own. You could even build them to accept carbide inserts RE: Print recycling - Ayydan - 06-15-2023 I could, but it'd likely cost more than one of these laser cut units by the end. You can get these units made in mild steel for about half the price, I just don't know where I could go to get it passivated RE: Print recycling - packocrayons - 06-15-2023 (06-15-2023, 01:57 PM)Ayydan Wrote: I could, but it'd likely cost more than one of these laser cut units by the end. Alternatively - you could talk me into the pottery kiln that's on my list RE: Print recycling - Ayydan - 06-15-2023 (06-15-2023, 01:59 PM)packocrayons Wrote:(06-15-2023, 01:57 PM)Ayydan Wrote: I could, but it'd likely cost more than one of these laser cut units by the end. Do you need to melt it or just heat treat it? I can't get a quick answer on the temperature for passivating RE: Print recycling - Ayydan - 06-15-2023 (06-15-2023, 02:05 PM)packocrayons Wrote:(06-15-2023, 02:00 PM)Ayydan Wrote:(06-15-2023, 01:59 PM)packocrayons Wrote:(06-15-2023, 01:57 PM)Ayydan Wrote: I could, but it'd likely cost more than one of these laser cut units by the end. Passivating needs a coating to be applied to mild steel to prevent corrosion. Basically, the choice is cheaper mild steel with occasional maintenance, or more expensive stainless, but easier to work with |
